Here's your chance to sing out about a proposed performance area for Western Park.

Auckland City is asking Ponsonby residents and visitors to comment on a proposed informal outdoor performance space for Western Park after the Western Bays Community Board endorsed a design for public consultation in late February 2005.

Between 4 March and 30 April 2005, submissions can be made on the proposed design which seeks to offer park visitors a place to relax while enjoying performances and views of the park's planted gullies.

The proposed performance area is a small-scale development designed to complement the natural ambience of Western Park.

The performance area will accommodate small local events in the summer months, which could include music performances, outdoor shows by theatre groups, wedding ceremonies and temporary art displays. The area will function as an informal relaxation space when it is not being used for performances.
