The Tertiary Education Commission released its Draft Ethnic Responsiveness Strategy on February 4th 2005, and invites feedback and comment on this document.

The Ethnic Responsiveness Strategy will guide the work of the Tertiary Education Commission as it seeks to respond to the views and needs of ethnic peoples. The Draft Ethnic Responsiveness Strategy has been developed following initial consultation with ethnic community representatives and those working closely with ethnic peoples.

Please note that the Draft Ethnic Responsiveness Strategy includes a large number of action items. These have been deliberately included to seek your advice as to what objectives and associated actions should be prioritised, and what objectives should be viewed as principally long-term. In addition, there is extended elaboration of some issues to ensure intended meanings are apparent.

Following the second consultation phase, the Draft Ethnic Responsiveness Strategy will be revised in response to stakeholder feedback. The final Ethnic Responsiveness Strategy will be implemented in the context of other Tertiary Education Commission strategies, including the Strategy for Working with Maori, and the Pacific Peoples Strategy.

The Tertiary Education Commission invites feedback on the Draft Ethnic Responsiveness Strategy from ethnic peoples, those working with ethnic peoples, government agencies, and other interested parties.

Feedback is required by 25 March 2005.
