Languages Policy Development

Following the successful Languages Strategy Workshop held at VictoriaUniversity of Wellington in February 2008, the Council for the Humanitiesaccepted a recommendation that it should provide leadership in advancingdiscussion on languages policies in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Council endorsed the statement on languages of the Human RightsCommission, and will initiate a discussion through the Humanities ResearchNetwork Forum with the aim of building links with interested people andorganisations and increasing awareness of the importance of a languagespolicy for Aotearoa New Zealand.
