2009 Fellows of the New Zealand Academy for the Humanities-Aronui

The 2009 Fellows of the New Zealand Academy for the Humanities-Aronui were awarded at a ceremony in Wellington last month.

The awards event held at Antrim house recognised distinction within the humanities and services to the humanities. This year's recipients of NZAH fellowships were:

Professor John Barsby (Classics, Otago)

Professor Linda Bryder (History, Auckland)

Professor Terence Dennis (Music, Otago)

Professor Charles Higham (Archaeology, Otago)

Professor Witi Ihimaera Smiler (English, Auckland)

Professor Emeritus Geoff Irwin (Archaeology, Auckland)

Professor Henrietta Mondry (Slavic Languages, Canterbury)

Professor Margaret Tennant (School of Graduate Studies, Massey)

The 2009 Pou Aronui Award was presented to Dr Brian Opie (English, Victoria)
