On Thursday 4 March Wellington residents and ratepayers can enjoy a free pass to the A Day in Pompeii exhibition at Te Papa.

The free entry is part of the Council's sponsorship of Te Papa.

The exhibition includes a 3-D video of the Vesuvius volcano erupting and covering the city of Pompeii with rocks and ash. Exhibits include day to day objects, gladiators armour, jewellery and other artefacts that give a glimpse into the lifestyle of the people living in Pompeii over 2000 years ago.

You will need to show proof that you live in Wellington (library card or invoice showing your address). Te Papa is open from 10.00am until 9.00pm. The free entry day is popular so be prepared to queue. The usual admission charge is $15 for adults and $5 for children.
