Retelling international relations' foundational stories: Some feminist and postcolonial perspectives

Oceanic Conference in International Studies (OCIS IV) seminar by Professor J. Ann Tickner, School of International Relations, University of Southern California.

Professor Tickner is an internationally recognised scholar on international relations, gender, and human security. She was the President of the International Studies Association in 2006-2007, the largest professional association of International Relations (IR) specialists in the world. She was named as one of the 'fifty key thinkers in International Relations' (living and deceased) in Martin Griffiths’ 1999 book of the same name; and ranked number 21 of scholars having greatest impact on International Relations discipline over the past 20 years (TRIP Survey 2007 and 2008). In 1999 she was awarded an honorary doctorate at the Uppsala University, Sweden for her framework built on the concept of comprehensive security, first developed in her book, Gender in International Relations (Columbia, 1992). She has held a number of prestigious visiting professor positions, including senior fellow in the Women and Public Policy Program at the J. F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
