Pompeii and the Roman Economy

Lecture

Dr Matthew Trundle explores the Roman economy through examination of Pompeii. The town preserves market gardens, shops, bars, baths and brothels. It gives insight into food supply and consumer habits. This lecture examines the nature of Roman trade and the role of money in the first century CE. Pompeii represents a microcosm of economic activity at the height of the Roman Empire.
