Nature of the Subsidy
Lecture
In a recent discussion paper prepared for Maori Broadcasting funder Te Mangai Paho, Larry Parr (Producer, Head of Television TMP) examines the value for the NZ taxpayer in subsidising the film and television industry, and raises the question of whether or not the taxpayer should retain ownership of New Zealand screening rights and have free access to all work produced on NZ taxpayer funds. The scope of Larry’s argument extends to the NZFC and New Zealand on Air.
Script to Screen invites you to join MC Simon Marler (E.D. Script to Screen) in a discussion of this radical concept with the paper’s author, Larry Parr, producer Dave Gibson and Executive Director of Nga Aho Whakaari, Pita Turei.
